It is through the poetry of Yanka Kupala we feel like a nation, Belarusians who are possibly similar to their neighbors but at the same time we are distinctive and have our own distinguishing features, if you like, our national character. This cultural legacy that Yanka Kupala left for us needs to be protected, fostered and multiplied”.
